Vsynth-Visuals in Ableton – Part 1

Kevin Kripper, the founder of the Max/MSP package Vsynth, published the lectures from his Vsynth classes at the University of Oregon on Patreon a few days ago.
Inspired by this, I revisited Vsynth after a long time and integrated my patch into Ableton 12 as a Max for Live device:

Unfortunately, there are problems using the Vsynth preset object in Ableton. Instead of the VSynth preset object, the following patch must be implemented (with the name of your json-preset-file):

I then inserted “Envelope MIDI” to those samples in the Drum Rack which get triggered and assigned them to the corresponding parameters in the M4L VSynth patch:

I also mapped LFOs and Envelope Followers to other parameters in the Live Set to add more movement.

This creates very interesting audio-reactive visuals:

das kommt visuell wirklich geil rüber. Ich bräuchte solche visuals ohne großen Aufwand für die nächste EA Party.
Ist das was, was man einfach so so runterladen und benutzen kann und dann ohne riesen-aufwand für n Liveset automatisiert ablaufen lassen kann?

  hey verstärker!
  danke für deine rückmeldung. naja, ist alles relativ, aber würde es nicht unter „geringem aufwand“ einordnen. vsynth ist ein plugin für max/msp (links und so sind in meinem beitrag). setzt mal voraus dass du zumindest max hast, dann musst man die patches in max machen und als m4l device exportieren, ist auch ein bisschen tricky. damit es dann auch audioreaktiv ist, muss man den parametern im vsynth-m4l-device midi bzw. envelope-follower werte aus den jeweilige ableton live spuren/synths zuweisen.
  ist also generell machbar wenn du max hast, aber es bedarf vorbereitung. ansonsten ist eventuell zwobot (https://www.zwobotmax.com/) eine alternative, das habe ich aber nicht und braucht wahrscheinlich auch etwas einarbeitung, sonst eventuell videosync (https://videosync.showsync.com/) oder das gute, alte magic music visuals (https://magicmusicvisuals.com/)?!
